The 24-page comic has been canceled.
HOWEVER, this was a decision by Aaron not SLG or Vertigo.

According to his blog, he has suspened work on the 24-page comic to work on a 100+ page manga-sized comic.

This does not mean that he is killing off the story or that the characters will be manga-ish (or is it manganese?).

Same characters. The story picks up where it left off. Everything is still alright.
